RABIH GEBEILE
singer, composer, video artist

Rabih Gebeile is a Lebanese audiovisual artist and music composer.
Right after his birth in 1979, his parents have to leave a war that torn Lebanon to Libreville in Gabon, where his father is a doctor. From there on, his childhood is a world trip, taking him from Dakar to Alexandria Virginia, Paris to Amsterdam.
Like every teenager in the 90s, Rabih picks up his first guitar at the age of 14. He ends up studying audiovisual arts in Beirut Lebanon where he lives up till 2006.
Once again, he has to leave his homeland during a conflict that opposed Lebanon and Israel this time.
After a perilous journey from Beirut to Damascus, he finally flies to Paris. There, he becomes the founder of the electro rock band Backbone Party with Alex Augier, Paul Cazenave-Piarrot, Patrick Krdzalin and Arnaud Le Pape. Their album « Beirutopia » is produced by Ted Niceley in 2010.
His following solo project, Murmuration, is a musical interpretation of the memory’s mechanics, mainly with a guitar, a looper and a drum machine. He collaborates a second time with the artist Alex Augier in creating a realtime audiovisual performance during which Rabih plays the album, while Alex adds his psychedelic and organic visuals to the titles. A solo version of that performance during which the visuals are audio reactive is also available. Rabih renews his collaboration with Alex on the creation of the new sound identity of the Centre Georges Pompidou.
Meanwhile, his cultural ties with Lebanon and the Middle East are still strong.
Sound designer to two short experimental films directed by Narimane Mari, he also worked with writer and director Sarah Francis on many occasions. As a member of YAZAN, a Beirut-based cultural association, he collaborates with the artist and director Caroline Hatem on several projects such as composing the soundtrack to the play Al Beyt written by Arzé Khodr and directed by Caroline Hatem in 2017 and the original music for THE JOY SERIES, a dance performance (2010).

While in lockdown and in a context of uprisings in France and Lebanon, Rabih writes and composes « Ce qui suit », an electro pop rock EP under his new project MONDO CANE. The songs are five fragments of a global anger. He delivers them in pain, after the Beirut Port explosion of 8/4/2020.
The EP is released on 9/10/2020.
